The state decided to help a 70-year-old man who was a farmer, a sheep farmer more precisely, his whole life, by giving him a retirement pay sufficient for him to live on.
On that occasion, one journalist asked him to tell her about a part of his own life that he will never forget and that has remained and will remain in his memory for life.
So, the old man began telling his story:
“I was twenty when I found a dog in the woods and I took it with me, deciding to keep it. Months had passed by and my neighbours started telling me that my dog resembled a she-wolf and that I had to get rid of it. I was young and I didn’t want to listen to anyone, my dog was fond of me, and wherever I went it followed me and waited on me. Years had gone by…
One day, I lay down to sleep and as if through my dream I heard a noise, growling and squealing. When I finally woke up and came to my senses, everything had calmed down. I went out and saw the whole flock of sheep butchered, and my she-wolf was sitting covered in blood and staring straight at me, with both fear and rage radiating in her eyes. I ran back inside, grabbed the shotgun and shot her on the spot.
I didn’t know what to do with the sheep so I asked my neighbours to take them out while their meat was still unspoiled.
When we started pulling the sheep we found three dead wolves among them, and that was the moment when I realized what I had done!”
Lesson: Everything is not what it seems – Never judge people and situations based on first impressions.
